In many under developed Rural Villages and Tribal Hamlets the scenario is worse. Several people are suffering from minor diseases for weeks, due to lack of knowledge and medical facilities, clean Drinking water and Sanitation Facilities. Squalid living conditions are leading to widespread infection and diseases. This ignorance is leading to an explosive increase in the spread of contagious, infectious and waterborne diseases dominating the morbidity pattern in these rural village areas. However, non-communicable diseases such as blindness, mental illness, hypertension, diabetes, accidents and injuries are also on the rise.Apart from that, the girls out of shyness and considering it as a taboo to openly ask for Sanitary Napkin Pads, most of them are using old clothes and reusing the same after washing and drying in the sun.
To create awareness on health and hygiene practices among the women, adolescent girls and school children, we have pasted Posters at strategic locations- Schools, Cross Roads, conducted awareness meeting in schools, conducted Group Discussions in colleges. We have also conducted KalaJatha (Traditional Folk Art Form) programs in local dialect for better understanding to all the inhabitants. The programwas implemented with our Local Individuals and SPDS Contributions.
