To improve Women’s equal access to and control of economic resources, access to education, health care, employment, equal remuneration, occupational health, safety and social security, participation and leadership in decision making in social, political and economic life at all levels, and assist efforts to eliminate discrimination against women, and to incorporate a gender perspective in the development process, we have implemented Gender mainstream and socio-economic empowerment programin Suryapet District, Telangana State, India. More than 250 women and girls have actively participated and benefitted from our program.
We have built these rural women’s capacities to respond and prevent the Gender based discrimination and Violence in the society. To build their capacities, we have conducted more than 5 workshops to build the confidence, create awareness about the various provisions in the law, supporting institution and local governing bodies, eventually making them to form groups to eradicate the Gender based violence in the society.
The topics taught to women and girls were women issues like handling Dowry, Domestic Violence, Eve Teasing, Work Place Harassment, Sexual Exploitation, Health issues like Reproductive Health Systems, HIV/AIDS, etc. The project is implemented by collecting funds from local Individual Donors and completed it on time.
